Hello Friends,
We’re still basking in the glow of the recent Folk Alliance International (FAI) Conference which took place Feb. 15-19 here in our beloved Kansas City. WOW – what an amazing event! Over 3,000 musicians, music industry pros, and music lovers gathered for a week to network, conduct business, learn new skills and share music, music, music. Highlights included our FAI Official Showcase, meeting one of our songwriting heros, connecting with friends old and new, and hearing music from around the globe that inspired and encouraged. My favorite quote from the weekend was from Billy Bragg’s rousing keynote address, “Cynicism is our greatest enemy.” We came away inspired and motivated.
An on that note – more songwriting, please! We’re bringing back our #VPsongLab for the 3rd year as our Artist-in-Residence at Mobank’s Crossroads Branch, Kansas City. Want to know more? We’re headed out to the East Coast for a short tour that includes performances at Club Passim in the Boston area as well as a guest spot with the fabulous Grammy-winner, Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks at Iguana in NYC. Please pass our dates along to folks you know in the area – we love to make new friends on the road!
WHEW. We’re feeling inspired to keep creating, doing, talking, connecting and making things better everywhere we can. We’re choosing hope and action over cynicism. As Woody Guthrie said, “This land is your land. This land is my land.”
